A. Absolutely! AMSOIL AFF 0W-40 was specifically formulated for use in small, hard working 4-stroke engines. AFF is ideal for 4-cycle snowmobiles, ATV's, personal watercraft, 4-stroke boat motors, lawn equipment etc...

Q. Can I use AMSOIL AFF 0W-40 in my car or truck?
A. YES. AMSOIL AFF 0W-40 can be used in in any gasoline 4-stroke automobile engine. Recommended change intervals are at 7500 miles, or 6 months. AMSOIL AFF can also be used in diesel powered cars or trucks, with change intervals as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.

Resists High Temperature Vaporization
Conventional motor oils tend to vaporize and lose weight in high temperature conditions, contributing to poor oil circulation, reduction in fuel efficiency and excessive emissions and engine wear. AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil is highly resistant to evaporation. While conventional petroleum oils thicken due to evaporation, AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil maintains its viscosity in high temperature service. The superior evaporation resistance of AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil keeps engine wear, oil consumption and emissions to a minimum, while keeping oil circulation efficient and fuel economy high.

Friction Modifier Free
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil contains no friction modifiers, making it ideal for ATV, outboard motor and motorcycle engines. The friction modifier free formulation of AMSOIL 4-Stroke ensures transmission (manual or automatic) and clutch compatibility and prevents slip.

Performance Formulated
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil contains a robust dispersant/detergent package, making it ideal for use in high-stress four-cycle engines. The dispersant/detergent additive package effectively suspends harmful combustion by-products and prevents deposits, keeping AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke clean and serviceable.

High-temperature operations often lead to the thermal degradation and oxidation of conventional oils, leading to the formation of deposits, sludge and varnish. The superior oxidative and thermal stability of AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil inhibits the formation of varnish, deposits and sludge so equipment runs clean in high-stress, high temperature operations.

Temperature and Performance
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil has a broad viscosity range, making it excellent for use in both hot and cold temperature extremes. As an SAE 40 weight motor oil, AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke provides superior protection for hot operating, hard working motors, while its SAE 0W rating ensures easy cranking, excellent cold weather starting and quick post-startup protection.

Copper Corrosion, Rust and Foam Inhibition
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil protects equipment from copper corrosion and rust, even during equipment storage. AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil does not foam in service, protecting equipment from the metal-to-metal contact and wear that occurs with use of foam-filled fluids.

Compatibility

Reduces Friction, Heat and Wear

Motorcycles are prone to rust from storage, humidity and short drives. Rust can cause major damage such as uncontrolled wear, compression loss and blow-by. Good rust protection, however, comes by design and is not natural to engine oils. Unlike many motorcycle oils, AMSOIL MCT contains special anti-rust agents that deliver superior rust protection. With its high TBN, AMSOIL 10W-30 provides greater protection from acid corrosion and helps maintain internal engine cleanliness.

APPLICATIONS
AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-30 Motorcycle Oil is recommended for liquid- or air-cooled 4-stroke motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and UTVs requiring an SAE 10W-30 fluid. It meets SAE 80, API GL-1 gear oil requirements and is recommended for transmissions on both 4- and 2-stroke motorcycles. AMSOIL MCT is recommended for Honda®, Yamaha®, Suzuki® and Kawasaki® motorcycles and scooters, as well as Arctic Cat®, Can-Am®, Honda®, Kawasaki® and Suzuki® ATVs and UTVs. Not recommended where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required.

MIXING AMSOIL
AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-30 Motorcycle Oil is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils; however, mixing oils may shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.

Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motorcycle oil.

SERVICE LIFE
Recommended for use up to twice the motorcycle manufacturer change interval (miles/hours) or one year, whichever comes first, in engines and transmissions. When using an engine filter other than AMSOIL Ea, change the filter at standard intervals.

For “off road” use, change AMSOIL MCT at motorcycle manufacturer intervals.

Racing or modified engines are excluded from extended drain interval recommendations. Oil changes
are at the owner's discretion.

Delivers Superior Rust Protection
Motorcycles are prone to rust from storage, humidity and short drives. Rust can cause major damage such as uncontrolled wear, compression loss and blow-by. Good rust protection, however, comes by design and is not natural to engine oils. Unlike many motorcycle oils, AMSOIL MCF contains special anti-rust agents. Provides Excellent Wet Clutch Performance
AMSOIL MCF contains no friction modifiers and promotes smooth shifting and positive clutch engagement. AMSOIL MCF controls heat and prevents slippage and glazing, and its high TBN resists acids that can degrade clutch material, helping improve clutch life.

APPLICATIONS
AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil is recommended for liquid or air-cooled 4-stroke engines. It meets SAE 80W/90, API GL-1 gear oil requirements and is recommended for transmissions on both 4- and 2-stroke motorcycles. AMSOIL MCF is recommended for Honda motorcycles, Kawasaki®, Yamaha®, Suzuki®, BMW®, Husqvarna®, KTM®, Victory motorcycles and other motorcycles where 10W-40 or 20W-40 engine oils or SAE 80W/90, GL-1 gear oils are used. Not recommended for shaft drive hypoid gears or where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required.

MIXING AMSOIL
AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils; however, mixing oils may shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motorcycle oil.

SERVICE LIFE
For on road use in engines and transmissions(street bikes), change AMSOIL MCF and AMSOIL engine oil filter at twice the motorcycle manufacturer change interval or one year, whichever comes first. Change other brand oil filters at standard intervals.

For off road use in engines and transmissions, change AMSOIL MCF at the standard motorcycle manufacturer change interval.

For racing or in engines modified from the original factory design, no change interval recommendation is made. Oil changes are at the owner's discretion.

Motorcycles are prone to rust from storage, humidity and short drives. Rust can cause major damage such as roller bearing failure, uncontrolled wear, compression loss and blow-by. Good rust protection, however, comes by design and is not natural to engine oils. Unlike many motorcycle oils, AMSOIL MCV contains special anti-rust agents. It passes the ASTM D-1748 humidity cabinet rust test and clearly demonstrates superior rust protection (see photos below).

Provides Excellent Wet Clutch Performance
AMSOIL MCV contains no friction modifiers and promotes smooth shifting and positive clutch engagement. AMSOIL MCV controls heat and prevents slippage and glazing, and its high TBN resists acids that can degrade clutch material, helping improve clutch life.

APPLICATIONS
AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil is recommended for air or liquid cooled 4-stroke engines. It meets SAE 90, API GL-1 gear oil requirements and is recommended for transmissions and primary chaincases. AMSOIL MCV is recommended for Harley Davidson®,
Buell®, Victory Motorcycles, Ducati®, Aprilia®, BMW®, Triumph® and other motorcycles where 15W-50 or 20W-50 engine oils or SAE 90, GL-1 gear oils are used. Not recommended for shaft drive hypoid gears or where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required.

MIXING AMSOIL
AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils; however, mixing oils may shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.

Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motorcycle oil.

SERVICE LIFE
For on road use in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases, change AMSOIL MCV and AMSOIL engine oil filter at twice the motorcycle manufacturer change interval or one year, whichever comes first. Change other brand oil filters at standard intervals.

For off road use in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases, change AMSOIL MCV at the standard motorcycle manufacturer change interval.

For racing or in engines modified from the original factory design, no change interval recommendation is made. Oil changes are at the owner's discretion.

High performance two-cycle motors have high compression ratios, which significantly increase combustion chamber heat and crankshaft bearing pressures. Hot combustion processes quickly burn off and evaporate light oils and cause rapid piston expansion, decreasing piston-to-cylinder wall clearances. This promotes piston scuffing and possible seizure. And increased pressure on crankshaft bearings promotes metal-to-metal contact, wear and pitting. High heat and pressures require tough oil with better film strength and more lubricity. DOMINATOR, constructed with AMSOIL heavy synthetic oil, handles high heat better than mineral oils and provides improved film strength and lubricity. The SuperDuty Motorcycle Oil Filters (SMF) reflect the newest technological advances in the quest to meet the unique demands of today's high-stress motorcycle engines.

The three main functions of any oil filter are flow, life and efficiency.

  • Flow is the filter's ability to let the right volume of oil reach its intended parts, with a minimum degree of restriction.

Typically, oil filters are comprised of cellulose, or paper, synthetic fibers, glass fibers, or a combination of media.

Flow is gained through a media that is open and free, while efficiency is gained through media that is closed and difficult to penetrate. The flow versus efficiency " compromise within the filtration system is the greatest demand on an oil filter's performance.

"Through our testing, we have found the best for motorcycles, and automobiles, is a blend of the three media - synthetic, cellulose and glass," Anderson said.. "That gives the best overall performance. You have to look at overall performance. How they do all the tasks that you want them to do. A prudent consumer must consider the total package."

AMSOIL SuperDuty Motorcycle Oil Filters provide the greatest possible balance of that "total package" to provide the ultimate in overall filtration performance.

The filters are available in black finish, with several models also available in chrome. The chrome models have a C designation.

They have a heavy-duty case of drawn steel. The case is double-crimped at the base with rolled-under seaming to withstand extreme pressure surges and road shocks.

Nanofiber Basics
Because the nanofibers in AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filter media are so small, there are more pores per square inch, allowing for higher dirt-holding capacity and lower pressure drop compared to traditional filter medias. Thinner media fibers produce more uniform pore size distribution, improving the filter’s overall ability to capture and retain particles.

Air Filtration Basics
An engine requires air for combustion, but the air drawn in through the induction system is loaded with contaminants. There are over 400 tons of suspended dirt and other contaminants in a cubic mile of air over a typical city. The concentration can be even higher in rural areas where there is frequent travel on unpaved roads. The dirt and contaminants drawn into an engine from the air are the leading causes of engine wear.

The function of the air filter is to trap and hold these wear causing contaminants without restricting air flow. As the filter traps more and more contaminants, air flow becomes restricted, smothering the engine and diminishing performance. The more wear causing contaminants a filtration media traps and holds, while still allowing optimum air flow, the better the filtration media.

The nanofiber technology used in AMSOIL Ea Filters surpasses all other technology in efficiency, capacity and service life. With AMSOIL Ea Air Filters, dust and submicron particles remain on the surface and are trapped in the nanofibers, preventing particles from lodging in the filter media depth. The filtration media in the Ea Motorcycle Air Filter is pleated and has epoxy-coated wire on the face and back of the media for additional strength and stiffness. The S&S (aftermarket engine and carburetor manufacturer) style round filters are manufactured with high-quality plastisol that bonds the media to the wire backing and sealing area.

Superior Filtration
The synthetic nanofiber media featured in AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters have sub-micron diameters and small inter-fiber spaces, resulting in more contaminants being captured on the surface of the media and lower restriction. Cellulose, wetted gauze and foam filters have larger spaces between the media that cause contaminants to load in the depth of the filter, resulting in airflow path plugging, higher restriction and lower capacity.

Cleanable for Long Service Life
AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters are cleanable, providing unsurpassed protection and long service life. AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters should be cleaned every year or according to operating conditions. Operation in extremely dusty or dirty environments may require more frequent cleaning. Ea Motorcycle Air Filters should be changed every four years.

Cleaning Instructions
AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters are cleaned in the same manner as AMSOIL Ea Air Filters for cars and light trucks: with a vacuum or shop air. To clean with a vacuum, place the filter on a flat surface and carefully vacuum the filter media on the dirty side where the incoming airflow enters the filter. To clean with shop air, hold the filter with one hand and carefully blow the filter media at a 45-degree angle on the clean side of the filter using low-pressure (15 to 20 psi) shop air. Using too much air pressure will damage the filter media.

A History of Excellence
WIX is well-known around the world for its innovative filtration products for the automotive and light truck market. Founded in 1939, the Gastonia, N.C., company earned acclaim during World War II when it created an oil filter out of a paper tube, wooden plugs and yarn when steel was in short supply. In 1954 WIX created the revolutionary spin-on oil filter that was eventually adopted as original equipment on most vehicles.

Today WIX manufactures some of the best oil, air, lube, cabin air, hydraulic, fuel, crank case breather and transmission filtration products on the market. The company is also widely known for its support of NASCAR.

Superior Construction
WIX oil filters have a full metal base plate for superior strength at the double seal. They also feature a silicone anti-drainback valve that stays flexible in extreme temperatures. This improves oil flow and keeps oil in the filter to prevent dry starts.

WIX oil filters use an up-front by-pass valve. This design is superior to top-mounted valves because it helps to keep oil from washing past dirty media and entering the engine. The glass-enhanced media in WIX oil filters offers greater efficiency, capturing more 10 to 12 micron sized particles than other cellulose/synthetic blend medias. They also have a coil steel spring to ensure internal filter parts are sealed properly.

WIX panel element air filters have a linear path through the filter for low airflow restriction, a specially formulated adhesive to form WIX’s exclusive pocket pleat for the filter media and a soft sealing urethane gasket molded in place on the filter element.

Radial air filters are constructed of mesh screen on the inside wall diameter for element strength and media protection from backfire. Each round filter is manufactured with heat-resistant plastisol with specially designed crush seals on the top and bottom walls and adhesive seal joining the media ends. Additional Information
WIX filters are supplemental to AMSOIL Ea filters, but now AMSOIL will offers WIX filtration products that cross to an Ea filter. With the exception of WIX lube filters, all WIX filters should be changed in accordance with original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM) recommendations. WIX lube filter change intervals are extended OEM recommendations to match the drain intervals of AMSOIL XL Motor oil.
