Find the Filter That Fits Your Vehicle
Master Filter Cross-Reference Guide
Absolute Efficiency
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters (EaO, Ea15K) have one of the best
efficiency ratings in the automotive/light-truck market. Ea Oil
Filters provide a filtering efficiency in accordance with industry
standard ISO 4548-12 of 98.7 percent at 15 microns, while
competitive filters containing conventional cellulose media
range from 40 to 80 percent efficiency.
Less Restriction
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters have lower restriction than conventional
cellulose media filters. Their small synthetic nanofibers trap
smaller particles and hold more contaminants, resulting in
lower restriction. During cold-temperature warm-up periods,
an Ea Oil Filter allows the oil to flow through the filter more easily
than a typical cellulose filter does. Lower restriction decreases engine wear.
Contaminant Retention
A filter’s capacity refers to the amount of contaminants it can hold and still remain
effective. AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters have a greater capacity for small, wear-causing
contaminants than competing filter lines do. In fact, when used in conjunction with
AMSOIL synthetic motor oils, AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are guaranteed for up to 15,000
miles/one year, whichever comes first, or 25,000 miles/one year, whichever comes
first, depending on application and severity of service.
Superior Construction
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are made with premium-grade full-synthetic media. The strictly
controlled processing of this media ensures accurate filter construction and is what allows
Ea Oil Filters to deliver higher capacity and efficiency along with better durability.
Over the service life of a conventional cellulose filter, hot oil will degrade the resins that bind the media. Ea Oil Filters’ full-synthetic media technology is resin-free. It uses a wire screen backing that is pleated with the media for superior strength.
Ea Oil Filters are constructed with HNBR gaskets that are fully tested to extreme distances in numerous severe environments. The filters also feature fully tucked seams, a molded element seal, roll-formed threads and a long-lasting, premium-grade silicone anti-drain valve.
Applications And Recommendations
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters provide superior oil filtration
for cars and light trucks.
Service Life
When used in conjunction with AMSOIL
synthetic motor oils, AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are guaranteed for extended
service life:
• Ea Filters designated with product code Ea15K are recommended for 15,000 miles/one year, whichever comes first, in normal or severe service.
• Ea Filters designated with product code EaO are recommended for 25,000 miles/one year, whichever comes first, in normal service or 15,000 miles/one year, whichever comes first, in severe service.
Consult the AMSOIL Online Application Guide or MyAMSOILGarage™ at www.amsoil.com to determine the appropriate filter for each application. When AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are used with a motor oil other than an AMSOIL extended drain motor oil the filter should be changed according to the vehicle manufacturer recommendation.

See product application notes for Harley Davidson Motorcycles at bottom of page
Oil is the life blood of your motorcycle engine. Your oil filtration system keeps that life blood flowing and your ride on the road.
For nearly 30 years, AMSOIL INC. has offered state-of-the-art products Dealers can sell with pride. In that time, the company's reputation has grown, along with its product line.
Now, AMSOIL has developed a full line of oil filters specifically designed for motorcycles and ATVs.
The SuperDuty Motorcycle Oil Filters (SMF) reflect the newest technological advances in the quest to meet the unique demands of today's high-stress motorcycle engines.
The three main functions of any oil filter are flow, life and efficiency.
While each of those functions is vital individually, there's more to it.
"Remember, it's more than just flow. It's more than just efficiency. It's more than just life," said Dave Anderson, AMSOIL Technical Sales Director. "They all have to perform in unison. A filter is only as good as its weakest link."
Typically, oil filters are comprised of cellulose, or paper, synthetic fibers, glass fibers, or a combination of media.
"All of these fibers have a different set of characteristics to them," Anderson said.
Each provides different levels of filtration of the damaging dirt and dust particles that shorten the life of a motorcycle engine.
Flow is gained through a media that is open and free, while efficiency is gained through media that is closed and difficult to penetrate. The flow versus efficiency " compromise within the filtration system is the greatest demand on an oil filter's performance.
"Through our testing, we have found the best for motorcycles, and automobiles, is a blend of the three media - synthetic, cellulose and glass," Anderson said.. "That gives the best overall performance. You have to look at overall performance. How they do all the tasks that you want them to do. A prudent consumer must consider the total package."
AMSOIL SuperDuty Motorcycle Oil Filters provide the greatest possible balance of that "total package" to provide the ultimate in overall filtration performance.
The filters are available in black finish, with several models also available in chrome. The chrome models have a C designation.
They have a heavy-duty case of drawn steel. The case is double-crimped at the base with rolled-under seaming to withstand extreme pressure surges and road shocks.
AMSOIL SMF are available in spin-on and cartridge types.
The new G-194 Automotive Filter and Cross- Reference Guide lists the correct filter for each motor- cycle and ATV. A separate Motorcycle and ATV Filter Cross Reference Guide, G-1768, at $1.00 U.S., also is newly available for your convenience.
These quality full-flow filters are designed to allow extended filter change intervals.
AMSOIL INC. recommends the following guidelines. When using an AMSOIL SMF with conventional oil, change the filter at the manufacturer 's recommendation. When using an AMSOIL SMF with AMSOIL Motor Oil, change the filter at twice the manufacturer 's recommendation or six months.

The Ea By-Pass Oil Filter (EaBP) provides the best possible filtration
protection against wear and oil degradation. Working in conjunction with
the engine’s full-flow oil filter, the AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Filter operates
by filtering oil on a “partial-flow” basis. It draws approximately 10 percent
of the oil pump’s capacity at any one time and traps the extremely
small, wear-causing contaminants that full-flow filters can’t remove. The
AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filter typically filters all the oil in the system several
times an hour, so the engine continuously receives analytically clean oil.

A. Getting started 2. Make sure you have the tools needed for the job. Recommended tool list
5/16" Allen wrench 3. Because of the wide range of possible mounting configurations, hose and hose fittings are not provided with this mount. Hose should meet or exceed SAE-100R6 specifications, and have a minimum inside diameter of 1/4". The mount itself has 3/4"-16 straight threads and the adapter fittings provided are 3/4"-16 straight x 1/4" JIC. Read through instructions and determine which plumbing arrangement best fits your application. Purchase hose and fittings according Make certain hose fittings match the type of hose chosen. Note: Hose and hose fittings are available from AMSOIL and your local AMSOIL Dealer. Refer to diagram D below and the parts list for 1/4" components matched for use with this system. |

B. Filter selection
Service recommendations for these filters are listed later in these instructions. Selecting a larger filter than recommended will extend the service interval, while selecting a smaller filter than recommended will shorten the service interval. C. Attaching the filter mount 1. Survey the engine compartment for possible mounting locations. Solid structures such as the firewall, fender well, radiator support or frame are normal locations. Refer to diagram A for minimum area requirements and consider accessibility for servicing. 2. Note that the filter mount can be rotated 180° in its mounting brackets. This allows the oil supply and return hoses to enter the mount on either the right of left hand side. Choose the side that will minimize the need for bends in the hoses or additional hose fittings. Refer to diagram B for preferred mounting positions. 3. When the location has been determined, use the mounting template provided to locate and mark mounting holes. This can be easily done with a center punch and hammer. 4. With a 1/4" drill bit, drill out the previously marked mounting holes and attach the two piece mount bracket. Use the 4 -1" long 1/4" bolts, nuts, small washer and fender washers provided. Note the assembly diagram D for details. Using two 7/16" wrenches or socket, tighten to 8 foot pounds.
5. Apply thread sealant onto the "0" ring adapter fitting (BP-213) and the restriction assembly (BP-202) as noted in diagram C. Install the "0" ring adapter fitting (BP-213) in the mount end adjacent to the arrows pointing IN. Install the restriction assembly (BP-202) in the mount end adjacent to the arrow pointing OUT. Using a 7/8" wrench, tighten both fittings to 40-43 foot pounds. 6. Apply thread sealant as noted indiagram C to the Allen head "0" ring plugs (BP-191). Using a 5/16" Allen head wrench, install plugs in remaining mount ports and tighten to 40-43 foot pounds. Note: If optional oil sampling valve is to be used, refer to diagram D and install in place of either Allen head "0" ring plug. 7. Attach the filter mount to the mounting brackets using 4 - 1-1/2" long 1/4" bolts, nuts and washers provided. Warning: The bolts must be installed so that the nuts are on the side opposite the filter nipples. Failure to do this will result in the bolts hitting the oil filters. Using two 7/16" wrenches or socket, tighten to 8 foot pounds.
D. Oil Supply 2. An alternate installation is to use the existing oil pressure sending unit. Remove the oil pressure sending unit and install a street tee. Then re-install the sending unit in one arm of the tee. Note: With this installation a slightly lower oil pressure reading may register, indicating oil flow to the by-pass filter. A change of 10% or less is not to be considered significant. 3. Install selected hose and hose fittings between the engine block or the remaining arm of the tee and the filter mount port marked with the arrow pointing IN. Hose should be routed in a manner that avoids contact with sharp or moving parts and minimizes bends. If bends in the hose can not be avoided, make sure the bend is greater than the minimum radius recommended by the hose manufacturer. Note: Bends should not start at the fitting. Refer to diagram E for suggestions on proper hose routing. 4. To maintain hose position, plastic hose ties are advised.
E. Oil Return 2. New Porting Option: Where an installation requires a new hole (in oil pan or valve cover), a self-tapping hollow bolt may be used. (The bolt is available from AMSOIL. Order BP-40 Bolt and BP-41 Sealing Gasket.) Note: The self-tapping hollow bolt should be used on stamped metal components only.
3. Other Options: Use a hollow bolt (available locally) to replace a cap screw holding such components as the fuel pump, timing case, or an inspection cover. Remove the selected bolt and determine if it provides an unrestricted passage to the oil pan. If so, install the hollow bolt. Route and connect hose as previously described. You may also use the AMSOIL Oil Return Swivel fitting (BP-89). See additional information on swivel fitting below. 4. Fill the selected AMSOIL By-Pass Filter elements with the same motor oil being used in the vehicle. Lubricate the filter gasket with oil and spin filters onto mount. Tighten one full turn after filter gasket first contacts mount, back off 1/8".
F. Start up procedures 2. Check engine oil level. Fill to full mark if necessary.
3. Set vehicle parking brake. With transmission in park/neutral start the engine and immediately check oil pressure. Note: Pressure may initially take a moment or two to rise. 4. After engine has warmed, shut off and re-check engine oil level. Fill as necessary. 5. Record vehicle mileage/operating hours and date of installation.
G. Periodic maintenance 2. Properly sized, your AMSOIL By-Pass filters will last twice as long as your regular full-flow filters. It is recommended however, filters be changed using an oil analysis program. 3. To change the filter elements:

and oil degradation. Working in conjunction with the engine’s full-flow oil filter,
the AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Filter
operates by filtering oil on a “partial-flow” basis. It draws approximately 10
percent of the oil pump’s capacity at any one time and traps the extremely
small, wear-causing
contaminants that full-flow filters can’t remove. The AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filter
typically filters all the oil in the system several times an hour, so the engine
continuously receives analytically clean oil.

New Aluminum Billet Oil Fill and Oil Filter Caps for BMK21 By-Pass Filtration System
Engine compartments are becoming increasingly cramped, leaving little room for after-market additions and improvements. The BMK21 is a single remote by-pass filter system that fits into much smaller spaces than the AMSOIL Dual-Remote By-Pass System.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke™ Diesels
Dodge 5.9L/6.7L Cummins Diesels
General Motors 6.6L Duramax Diesels The Sandwich adapter is an anodized billet aluminum adapter that screws on to the present full flow oil filter nipple located on the engine block. The full flow filter is then simply spun on to the adapter. The Sandwich adapter has an orifice to provide high-pressure oil feed for the BMK21. Like the other diesel applications, AMSOIL now offers an Aluminum Billet Oil Filler Cap for (BK1202) to ease the installation of the oil flow from the BMK11 back to the engine. To complete an installation, the following components must be purchased separately:

Marine
Dual Remote Filtration System
(BMK-18)
The BMK18 is packaged in kit form,
which includes the Dual filter mount,
mounting hardware, hoses, hose fittings,
component parts and installation instructions.
In addition, adapter kits of four
different sizes enable the BMK18 to
be installed on a wide variety of
recreational and light commercial
marine engines.
Product
Description
The Marine Dual Remote Filtration System (BMK18) offers
easily accessible remote mounting capability for a full-flow
spin-on oil filter and a spin-on by-pass oil filter. This
unique combination of both full-flow and by-pass filtration
on a single mounting manifold is the only system of this
kind designed specifically for marine applications.
Improved
Performance
The effects of marine engines running predominantly at
or near full throttle after extended periods of non-activity
include high operating temperatures and increased
potential for wear on engine components. Dual remote
filtration is a highly efficient filtering process capable of
removing the vast majority of particles in the 5-20 micron
range; those that cause the most wear. Dual remote filtration
also has the ability to effectively remove particles
down to one micron in size. The AMSOIL Marine Dual
Remote Filtration System (BMK18) offers a clear advantage
by providing better oil filtration, increased oil capacity
and longer oil and filter life.
Reduces
Heat
The
BMK18 requires a one- to two-quart oil volume increase, offering
increased oil cooling capabilities. The additional hoses, fittings,
filters and aluminum mount assemblies also allow the engine oil to
dissipate heat more efficiently as it passes through the filtration
system, extending the service life of both the engine and the engine
oil..
Outstanding
Durability
The Marine Dual Remote Filtration System is designed to
be used in harsh marine environments. The hose fittings
are coated with a 3 ml layer of Alumiplate™ and 1 ml of
zinc and yellow chromate. This Alumiplate coating is 10
times more corrosion resistant than standard zinc and
yellow chromate plated fittings. While standard hydraulic
fittings typically survive 96 hours in the grueling ASTM
B-117 Salt Spray Test, the Alumiplate-coated AMSOIL
Marine By-Pass System fittings lasted over 1,000 hours.
In addition, the fasteners and mounting bracket are stainless
steel and the hoses are U.S. Coast Guard approved.
Fewer
Oil Changes
Depending on the boat owner’s hours of use, the
improved filtration of the Marine Dual Remote System,
along with the use of AMSOIL synthetic lubricants, could
completely eliminate oil and filter changes during a typical
boating season. With marine engines located in a relatively
confined and remote space within the watercraft,
ease of filter access and reduced oil spillage are also significant
benefits of the BMK18.
Applications
A large number of marine diesel engines have by-pass oil
filtration systems installed by the engine manufacturer.
Until now, however, this technology has not been available
to smaller pleasure boats and light commercial
marine applications. The AMSOIL Marine Dual Remote
Filtration System was specifically designed for recreational
and commercial marine applications that use
inboard or inboard/outboard stern drive engines.
The BMK18 is packaged in kit form, which includes the Dual filter mount, mounting hardware, hoses, hose fittings, component parts and installation instructions. In addition, adapter kits of four different sizes enable the BMK18 to be installed on a wide variety of recreational and light commercial marine gasoline-fueled engines, including those manufactured by Chris Craft, Chrysler, Crusader, Evinrude, Johnson, Gray Marine, Mercruiser, OMC, Pleasurecraft, Universal, Volvo Penta and Westerbeke.
The BMK18 kit offers a new heavy-duty, machined aluminum adapter and retaining nut that fits on the existing oil filter mount. Each adapter kit is application specific and must be ordered separately. Consult the Marine Dual Remote Application Guide (G2051) or www.amsoil.com for specific applications. Adapter kits are available for the most popular filter thread sizes. When ordering the BMK18, request one of the following adapter kits:
• BK195 for 3?4" x 16 thread
• BK196 for 13?16" x 16 thread
• BK197 for 18 mm x 1.5 mm thread
• BK198 for 20 mm x 1.5 mm thread
Also, for ease of installation in some applications, optional 90-degree fittings (BK199 and BK200) can be mounted on the filter adapter collar. These parts are also sold separately.
The AMSOIL Marine Dual Remote Filtration System represents the cutting edge of filtration technology, another example of the AMSOIL commitment to providing quality innovations that benefit consumers everywhere.
The remote mount of the BMK18 is compatible with the AMS-Oiler™ Oil Precharger (AMK01). For added engine protection, install the AMK01 to reduce dry starting which is typical of marine engines that sit idle for even short periods of time.
