PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke® 10W-40 Synthetic Scooter Oil (ASO) is formulated specifically to meet the special needs of today’s high-tech air- and water-cooled fourstroke motorized scooters, offering unsurpassed wear protection and friction reduction for longer equipment life and cooler operating temperatures. Its exceptional shear stability ensures consistent viscosity protection and provides additional protection for transmissions and gear boxes, while its friction modifier-free formulation ensures wet clutch compatibility and smooth clutch operation. A special anti-corrosion additive package provides long-term protection during periods of inactivity and storage.
Shear Stability
High engine rpms common to scooter applications increase shear, causing conventional lubricants to lose viscosity and reduce their ability to control wear, resulting in shorter engine life. The synthetic formulation of Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Scooter Oil effectively resists shear, delivering consistent viscosity protection for unsurpassed wear protection and extended equipment life.
Thermal Stability
The operating temperatures of scooter engines fluctuate greatly, especially with air-cooled engines. Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Scooter Oil resists breakdown at elevated temperatures, maintaining its protective viscosity for maximum wear control.
Transmission and Gear Box Compatibility
In many scooter applications, the engine and transmission and/or gear box share the same oil reservoir. Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Scooter Oil is absolutely shear stable and will not thin out from mechanical activity, providing superior protection for transmissions and gear boxes.
Wet Clutch Compatibility
Some scooters utilize a frictional clutch to engage and disengage the engine from the drivetrain. In many cases, this clutch is immersed in the same oil used in the engine and transmission. Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Scooter Oil contains no friction modifiers and is wet clutch compatible, offering smooth clutch operation and increased clutch life.
Rust and Corrosion Protection
Scooters are often subjected to extended periods of inactivity and storage, exposing the equipment to internal rust and corrosion. Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Scooter Oil is formulated with a special anti-corrosion additive package designed to provide long-term protection during periods of inactivity and storage.
Applications and Recommendations
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Scooter Oil is recommended for use wherever SAE 10W-40 motor oil is specified in air- and watercooled four-stroke motorized scooter engines, transmissions and gear boxes that require the following:

Mixing AMSOIL

Extends Drain Intervals
AMSOIL Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil can extend drain intervals far beyond those recommended for conventional oils. Its unique synthetic formulation and long drain additive system are very stable, resisting oxidation and neutralizing acids. AMSOIL ASM delivers the best possible engine protection, cleanliness and performance over extended drain intervals, reducing vehicle maintenance and waste oil disposal costs.
Maximizes Fuel Economy
AMSOIL Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil is designed to maximize energy efficiency for improved fuel economy. Its light viscosity properties reduce drag and its uniform molecular structure helps it flow more freely to lower friction between metal surfaces. Anti-friction additives are included to further improve energy efficiency.
Protects Against Wear
AMSOIL Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil is a shear stable formulation with a high viscosity index. It provides excellent viscosity film strength to separate metal surfaces and contains robust anti-wear additives for the best possible engine protection.
Reduces Oil Consumption and Emissions
Volatility (burn-off) occurs when oil gets hot, causing high oil consumption and emissions. AMSOIL Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil has a very low volatility rate, making it excellent at controlling volatility related oil consumption and emissions.
Excels in Extreme Temperatures
AMSOIL Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil resists thermal breakdown better than conventional oils. It is heavily fortified with detergent and dispersant additives to prevent sludge deposits and keep engines clean. And unlike conventional oils, AMSOIL ASM contains no wax. It stays fluid down to -65°F for improved cold temperature oil flow, reduced bearing wear and easier starting.

Mixing AMSOIL
AMSOIL ASM is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils. Mixing AMSOIL motor oils with other oils, however, will shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits of AMSOIL. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motor oils.
SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil is recommended for extended drain intervals in unmodified(1), mechanically sound(2) gasoline-fueled vehicles as follows:
• Normal Service(3) – Up to 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.
• Severe Service(4) – Up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.
• Replace AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter at the time of oil change, up to 25,000 miles or one year service life, whichever comes first (other brands at standard OEM* intervals).
• In all non-gasoline fueled vehicle applications, extend the oil change interval according to oil analysis or follow the OEM* drain interval.
*OEM – Original Equipment Manufacturer
(1) Engines operating under modified conditions are excluded from extended drain recommendations. Examples include the use of performance computer chips; non-OEM approved exhaust, fuel or air induction systems; and the use of fuels other than those recommended for normal operation by the manufacturers.
(2) Mechanically sound engines are in good working condition and do not, for example, leak oil or consume excessive amounts, are not worn out, do not overheat, do not leak anti-freeze and have properly working emission control systems. AMSOIL recommends repairing malfunctioning engines prior to the installation of AMSOIL synthetic oils.
(3) Personal vehicles frequently traveling greater than 10 miles (16 km) at a time and not operating under severe service.
(4) Turbo or supercharged vehicles, commercial or fleet vehicles, excessive engine idling, first and subsequent use of AMSOIL in vehicles with over 100,000 miles, daily short trip driving less than 10 miles (16k), frequent towing, plowing, hauling or dusty condition
driving.
AMSOIL Ea Full-Flow Filters are designed for extended drain intervals. They stop smaller particles, flow more oil and last longer than regular filters. For best performance, use AMSOIL Ea Full-Flow Filters.

Buell®, Victory®, Ducati®, Aprilia®, BMW®, Triumph® and other motorcycles where 15W-50 or 20W-50 engine oils or SAE 90, GL-1 gear oils are used. Not recommended for shaft drive hypoid gears or where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required.
MIXING AMSOIL
AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils; however, mixing oils may shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.

Q. Can I use AMSOIL AFF 0W-40 in my car or truck?
A. YES. AMSOIL AFF 0W-40 can be used in in any gasoline 4-stroke automobile engine. Recommended change intervals are at 7500 miles, or 6 months. AMSOIL AFF can also be used in diesel powered cars or trucks, with change intervals as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.

Conventional motor oils tend to vaporize and lose weight in high temperature conditions, contributing to poor oil circulation, reduction in fuel efficiency and excessive emissions and engine wear. AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil is highly resistant to evaporation. While conventional petroleum oils thicken due to evaporation, AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil maintains its viscosity in high temperature service. The superior evaporation resistance of AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil keeps engine wear, oil consumption and emissions to a minimum, while keeping oil circulation efficient and fuel economy high.
Friction Modifier Free
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil contains no friction modifiers, making it ideal for ATV, outboard motor and motorcycle engines. The friction modifier free formulation of AMSOIL 4-Stroke ensures transmission (manual or automatic) and clutch compatibility and prevents slip.
Performance Formulated
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil contains a robust dispersant/detergent package, making it ideal for use in high-stress four-cycle engines. Copper Corrosion, Rust and Foam Inhibition
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil protects equipment from copper corrosion and rust, even during equipment storage. AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil does not foam in service, protecting equipment from the metal-to-metal contact and wear that occurs with use of foam-filled fluids.

Applications and Recommendations
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil may be used in all applications specifying 0W-40, 5W-30, 10W-30 and 10W-40 viscosity grades and is recommended for applications specifying the following:

Compatibility
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil is compatible with other four-stroke fluids. However, a mixture of AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil and another oil may offer a shorter service life than pure AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil.

Change AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Motor Oil according to manufacturer's recommendations, without oil filtration. With oil filtration (AMSOIL SDF Filter), up to 2 times longer than manufacturer's recommendations or 6 months, whichever comes first. If a Hastings or other filter is used, filter should be changed at manufacturer's recommendations.
