AMSOIL Synthetic Transmission Fluids
These guides are used to identify which transmission is in a vehicle; some vehicles have three automatic transmissions possible. These guides are also published in the AMSOIL G-194 Oil & Air Filter Application Guide, on pages 247 and 248.
This information is needed to "look-up" transmission fluid capacity or the correct transmission filter part number. Manufacturers' such as General Motor, Ford, and Chrysler use different transmissions in "matching" the drive train (transmission, differential, and motor).

High and low temperature performance - AMSOIL Synthetic Powershift Transmission Fluids provide superior protection in high temperatures, inhibiting the formation of varnish, deposits of sludge, while their excellent heat transferring abilities help hot running equipment operate up to 50°F cooler. In low temperatures, AMSOIL Synthetic Powershift Transmission Fluids flow readily for dependable startup and post startup protection.
Extended drains - AMSOIL Synthetic Powershift Transmission Fluids provide two to five times the service life of conventional petroleum fluids if kept free of dirt and moisture. They may be used for 250,000 miles or five years (whichever comes first) in manual transmissions.
Automatic Transmission Fluid - AMSOIL Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is formulated for passenger car automatic transmissions, power steering units and hydraulic or compressor systems calling for ATF. Torque-Drive Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATD) is engineered specifically for the Allison TES-295 transmission fluid.
AMSOIL synthetic automatic transmission fluids offers superior performance over a greater temperature range than conventional ATFs do, allowing free fluid flow through narrow transmission passageways in cold temperatures and resisting high-temperature thickening, sludging and deposit formation in high temperatures.
AMSOIL Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) exceeds the performance requirements for domestic and foreign automatic transmission fluid applications, providing excellent lubricating protection and better performance over a wider temperature range than conventional automatic transmission fluids.
AMSOIL ATF resists thermal and oxidative degradation up to three times longer than conventional transmission fluids, protecting components from damaging sludge and varnish deposits, preventing component overheating and ensuring cooler, smoother transmission operation. AMSOIL ATF also offers three times the cold temperature fluidity required by current automatic transmission fluid specifications and provides easier starting, faster warm-ups, smoother shifting and improved fuel economy.
AMSOIL ATF provides smooth shifting and long, trouble-free transmission life for extended drain intervals. Transmissions usually operate under severe service conditions and are subjected to extensive idling, frequent short trips, cold temperature driving, sustained hot weather driving or trailer towing. When conventional transmission fluid is used, it should be changed every 15,000 to 30,000 miles. AMSOIL ATF should be changed at intervals up to three times longer than the recommendations of the vehicle manufacturer.
Tractor Hydraulic Transmission Fluid - AMSOIL Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid is formulated for farm and heavy equipment with a common sump for hydraulic fluid and vehicle transmission fluid. AMSOIL Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid is formulated for long-lasting wet brake chatter suppression.
AMSOIL Torque-Drive - AMSOIL Torque-Drive is recommended as a direct replacement for TranSynd Synthetic ATF in heavy duty, on and off highway automatic transmissions manufactured by Allison, General Motors, Ford, Voith and ZF or wherever the standards TES-295, C-4, Dexron III, Mercon, or TE-ML 14C are specified. Examples of operations that benefit from using AMSOIL Torque-Drive include municipal or transit buses, motor coaches, garbage haulers, motor homes, delivery vans, emergency vehicles, school buses, dump trucks, utility vehicles, cement trucks, line haul trucks.
Where extended drain intervals are not specified by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), it is recommended that AMSOIL Torque drive be evaluated with oil analysis at standard OEM drain intervals or more frequently to establish proper drain interval. Where extended drain intervals are recommended by the OEM, follow that recommendation. This includes the recommendations set by Allison in document #10-TR-99 Rev B, January 2002, for TES-295 fluids.
