Helpful Differential Recommendations:

• Flush (drain) as much of the old fluid out.

• Differential fluid capacity depends on ring gear and axle housing size.

• Do not over/under fill differential. This could mean a capacity difference of a quart or more and may cause over heating problems. (See the owner's manual for proper fill level)

• AMSOIL gear oils are formulated with friction modifiers for limited slip differential applications. There is no need to add limited slip or additional additives.

• After changing the differential fluid, drive the vehicle in 7 or 8 figure eight turns, so new lubricant can work its way into the axle assembly

AMSOIL Synthetic 80W-90 Gear Lube
AMSOIL Synthetic 80W-90 Gear Lube is a high quality replacement for applications specifying SAE 80W-90 conventional gear lube.  Its synthetic construction and high quality additives provide improved cold flow properties, high viscosity index, heat resistance, excellent wear protection and long equipment life.

AMSOIL SAE 80W-90 Synthetic Lower Unit Gear Lube protects outboard and sterndrive lower units in freshwater and saltwater applications.  It is an extreme pressure lubricant engineered specifically to meet the high temperature/high load demands of today's geared equipment.  AMSOIL SAE 80W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube (GL-4) doesn't break down in extreme heat and form damaging deposits, varnish and sludge.  It maintains its protective capability even in high temperatures, preventing the ridging, rippling and spalling caused by surface distress.

Load-bearing and extreme pressure protection - AMSOIL synthetic gear lubes are formulated to protect gears operating in heavily loaded conditions whether or not the gears operate with full film lubrication.  Superior film strength and viscosity retention offer superior protection in full film regimes, while top-quality extreme pressure agents protect when a full lubricating film does not separate gear surfaces.

The thermal durability of AMSOIL synthetic gear lubes ensures extreme pressure protection after extended exposure to extreme temperatures.  The extreme pressure agents in conventional gear lubes sometimes lose their effectiveness after extended exposure to high temperatures, leaving gears vulnerable to metal-to-metal contact and wear.
