Cetane Boost encourages timely, uniform fuel ignition, discourages high pressure rate rise during the combustion cycle and solves startability and driveability problems associated with low cetane number diesel fuels.  Too long an ignition delay at high engine loads leads to an excessively rapid increase in pressure within the cylinder before combustion, which in turn, leads to diesel knock, or rough operation, especially on cold starts.  Excessive pressure rise rates are theoretically cuased by extra chemical reactions occurring before combustion.  The products formed by the extra reactions burn rapidly. Rapid burning causes excessively rapid pressure rise in the cyclinder. With a shorter ignition delay, the extra reactions don't have a chance to occur, hence the rate of pressure rise is reduced.

For diesel fuel is designed for use in Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuel (ULSD) and conventional fuels. It functions by modifying wax crystal formation at low temperatures to depress the pour point and improve cold flow filtration properties. AMSOIL Cold Flow Improver contains jet fuel-type deicer to help prevent ice formation in fuels contaminated with water. It is recommended for use with all diesel engines and is compatible with diesel exhaust particulate filters (DPFs). AMSOIL Cold Flow Improver is recommended for use in #2 diesel fuel, #1 diesel fuel, kerosene, heating oil and bio diesel. Add AMSOIL Cold Flow Improver to diesel fuel above the fuel cloud point, which is the temperature wax crystals begin to form. Diesel fuel cloud point varies greatly with some lesser-quality diesel fuels forming wax as warm as 40° F (4°C). AMSOIL recommends treating diesel fuel at a minimum of 32°F (0°C), insuring the fuel is properly treated inmost every case. AMSOIL Cold Flow Improver is designed to control wax crystal formation. It does not reverse wax or gel once formed.

Formulated for use with both synthetic and petroleum gear lubricants and safely replaces manufacturer recommended friction modifiers. Its convenient flip-top dispenser provides quick and easy application to the gear housing. One four-ounce bottle of Slip-Lock treats differential capacities of two to four quarts. It is not for use in automatic transmissions or other applications requiring ATF.

NOTE: AMSOIL Synthetic Gear Lubes do not require the use of this additive. However, not all differentials respond the same and if chatter is noticed, the addition of AMSOIL Slip-Lock will eliminate it. For chattering differentials not running AMSOIL Gear Lube, this product is an excellent solution to the problem.
